More than 2,500 students from Gipuzkoa took part in this educational tour during 2023/24 to promote the conservation of the oceans.
CIMASUB, in a continuous effort to promote respect for the marine world among young people, brings us the TXIKIZIKLO SUBMARINO. The initiative, which has grown significantly over the last decade, thanks to the organisation of the Real Sociedad Foundation, strives to promote values and love for the environment and aims to introduce children to the fascinating underwater world. Recommended for children between 10 and 12 years old, 5th and 6th years of Primary Education.
With the slogan ‘Building a blue future’, CIMASUB reinforces the idea that building a ‘blue future’ involves training new generations to value and care for our seas and oceans. In short, this slogan reflects CIMASUB's determination to be a beacon of hope and change in the fight for the preservation of marine ecosystems.
The TXIKIZIKLO SUBMARINO is equivalent to new blue enthusiasts, who will forge an indestructible bond with their blue planet and will be the new direct ambassadors of marine biodiversity, driving the new awareness to recover the balance of the sea.
The aim of the UNDERWATER TXIKICICLE is to educate our children to respect the sea and the environment. Every day, primary school pupils will enjoy a session lasting approximately one hour:
Previously, didactic material will be provided to the participating educational centres so that they can do some previous work in their classes, before attending the event. We will provide teachers with a very specific proposal with the activities to be carried out and methodological guidelines, supported by audiovisual material. This proposal can be developed in one or two working sessions in the classroom.
The aim is to make them aware of the environmental situation and to develop attitudes of healthy and responsible consumption, and of respect and care for the environment, in order to participate responsibly in its management. To work on personal responsibility and decision-making about the impact on the planet in our daily lives. To make personal and collective decisions based on scientific knowledge.
The talk is entirely in Basque. The short films and the presentation may contain audio in Spanish. The didactic material is delivered in Basque and Spanish. It may contain videos with audio in Spanish.
This UNDERWATER TXIKICICLE is an initiative that the Real Sociedad Fundazioa wants to promote as it is part of the values education it works for, in this case promoting respect for the sea and the environment. The aim of this event is to raise awareness that it is in everyone's hands to help alleviate climate change and save our seas and oceans. To do so, we will explain the problem of the current situation and what the solutions are.
You can't love what you don't know, that's why we dedicate all our efforts to reach the youngest members of the public. Every year the number of people who attend the TXIKICICLO SUBMARINO grows, exceeding a thousand both in Donostia and in other towns where we carry it out. Our aim is to increase these figures by visiting more schools and other towns that open their doors to us.
