The International Underwater Film Series offers a unique opportunity to explore the beauty and discover the secrets of the oceans. Free underwater screenings, exhibitions and educational activities for all audiences.
The wait is over for underwater world enthusiasts! The International Underwater Film Festival, CIMASUB, is launching its new TOUR with an exciting programme that will captivate ocean and nature lovers alike. Admission is free, and everyone is invited to enjoy this unique experience, bringing together some of the world's finest underwater photographers and filmmakers.
Underwater Cinema. The big screen to raise awareness.
CIMASUB invites us to immerse ourselves in the wonders of the marine world through a carefully chosen selection of short films and documentaries. Throughout the three sessions, attendees will be transported from colourful coral reefs to the cold waters of the Atlantic, exploring unique landscapes and fascinating creatures.
Each screening combines the visual beauty of the ocean with profound conservation messages. The stories range from the spiritual connection between humans and sharks, to the struggle to protect endangered species and fragile ecosystems. It also highlights the urgency of addressing challenges such as climate change, pollution and overfishing.
The series also celebrates the cultural diversity of coastal communities and their relationship with the sea, while inviting reflection on the human impact on these environments. With a mix of emotions, from serene contemplation to inspiration for change, these screenings are an enriching experience for ocean and nature lovers.
Photo exhibition. A tool to protect our oceans.
CIMASUB is not just about underwater cinema; it is a comprehensive event that encompasses multiple dimensions of the relationship between humans and the ocean. Accompanying the film screenings is a stunning underwater photography exhibition that opens its doors to immerse visitors in the mysterious seabed and the complex relationship between mankind and nature.
The Underwater Txikiziklo. Education our priority.
CIMASUB's commitment to education and environmental awareness is manifested in the Txikiziklo Submarino, an educational tour that has involved more than 3,500 primary school students. This programme aims to promote ocean conservation and encourage children's perception of everything that surrounds the sea, offering a unique experience to the children of the schools that visit us.
The event is organised by Subacuáticas Real Sociedad, which since 1975 has been dedicated to publicising the underwater world and raising awareness of respect and care for our seas and oceans through the dissemination of audiovisual works.
CIMASUB has become an important channel of communication between the ambassadors of the sea, underwater photographers and videographers, and the thousands of people who visit the cinemas where this prestigious international event is held, which every year is a reality thanks to the participation of the town councils of the towns we visit, the Royal Society Foundation, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, the Basque Government and other sponsoring and collaborating entities.
The CIMASUB TOUR promises to be an unforgettable experience that invites us to appreciate and protect the underwater world and to reflect on our responsibility to care for it.
Adinziklo Submarine. Building closer ties with older people.
CIMASUB, in collaboration with the Real Sociedad Fundazioa, has launched a new programme designed to bring the fascinating underwater world closer to Day Centres and Residences for the Elderly. This initiative aims to offer our seniors the opportunity to explore the seabeds, learn about its biodiversity and reflect on its conservation in an accessible and enriching way.
Through underwater film screenings, participants, together with their families and carers, will be able to enjoy an experience that breaks their daily routine, turning them into divers for a day. This programme not only provides entertainment, but also strengthens the emotional well-being of the elderly, awakening emotions and creating valuable shared memories.
Our aim is to expand and strengthen this initiative in the coming years, bringing the magic of the oceans to more centres and reaching a greater number of users. This commitment is a further step towards inclusion and environmental awareness, highlighting the importance of connecting with all sectors of our society, especially those who have been pillars of our communities.
