SAN SEBASTIAN INTERNATIONAL UNDERWATER FILM FESTIVAL
CIMASUB 2026 has announced its winners: 50 years of history and a list of achievements to celebrate
The 50th edition of the Donostia-San Sebastián International Underwater Film Festival has announced its winners. This has been a particularly exciting year for CIMASUB, as we celebrate half a century of sharing images, stories, and a shared passion for discovering, understanding, and protecting the underwater world.
The award-winning works in this edition once again demonstrate the extraordinary level of today’s underwater film and photography. Stories from different corners of the world, spectacular images, surprising encounters with marine life, and works that, in addition to moving us, invite us to view our seas and oceans with greater sensitivity.
This year, each award also holds special significance. Reaching our 50th edition means looking toward the future without forgetting all the people who made it possible for that adventure, which began in 1975, to continue to this day. That is why CIMASUB 2026 will also be a celebration of its history, its pioneers, and all those who have kept this passion alive for five decades.
The Teatro Principal in Donostia-San Sebastián will once again become our great window to the ocean on November 12, 13, and 14, with three screenings where we can enjoy a selection of this year’s most outstanding works. Saturday, the 14th, will feature one of the most special moments: the awards ceremony and the celebration of this historic 50th anniversary.
These will be three days to be moved, discover new stories, and celebrate together 50 years of underwater cinema, outreach, and commitment to the sea.
On behalf of the entire CIMASUB team, we extend our congratulations to the award winners and our thanks to all the participants who, once again this year, allow us to continue opening a window to the sea.
See you in November. We have a lot to celebrate this year.
