CIMASUB, or Ciclo Internacional de Cine Submarino, is a non-profit association whose aim is to raise awareness of the seabed and transmit respect and love for it.
It was founded in 1975 by a group of divers who were passionate about the sea and underwater images. Over time, this competition has become an event to raise awareness of the love and care of the sea. Using a very attractive format for the public, such as film, to show all the beauty and biodiversity hidden in our oceans, and to show the serious situation in which they find themselves due to human behaviour and attitude to the problem of marine pollution and overfishing.
Today, after 46 editions, we have become the longest-running underwater film festival on the planet. CIMASUB is a world reference in underwater film festivals, receiving short films and documentaries from all over the planet. More than 80 different countries in the last edition. This means that we are a unique opportunity to see on the big screen the best works in the sector, both in terms of quality and in terms of the environmental awareness and marine environmental education content shown.
All our activities work on themes that help us to understand the importance of the sea and our close relationship with the environment, seeking to raise awareness, educate and involve people in the solution to this problem.
If you want to get to know us better, here you can see the MEMORY of the results of the last edition held.
