More than 700 children from Donostia-San Sebastian will take part in the Txikiziklo Submarino
Our children should get to know the sea and discover this fascinating and wonderful underwater world, so that they grow up loving and respecting it. With this objective in mind, the Txikiziklo Submarino was born ten years ago, reaching more and more educational centres, with the participation of more than 1,700 students in the previous edition, exceeding 2,000 in 2022. Dissemination and education are the best tools to save the oceans and guarantee the survival of our species.
Organised by the Royal Society Foundation, it is being held at the San Sebastian Aquarium from Monday 21st to Friday 25th November, aimed at children aged between 10 and 12 years old, in 5th and 6th years of Primary Education.
The schools taking part will be Amara Berri (Ferrerias), Jakintza Ikastola, Katalina Erauso, Intxaurrondo Hegoa, The English School, Ibai Ikastola, Maria Reina, Altza Herri Ikastetxea, Amara Berri (Morlans).
Previously, didactic material has been provided to the participating schools, with activities and methodological guidelines, supported by audiovisual material, to be developed in the classroom before attending the event.
The aim is to raise awareness of the environmental situation and develop attitudes of healthy and responsible consumption, and respect and care for the environment, in order to participate responsibly in its management. The aim is to work on personal responsibility and decision-making about the impact on the planet in our daily lives and to make personal and collective decisions based on scientific knowledge.
And to top it all off, just before visiting the Aquarium, the lucky winners will be able to receive some fantastic prizes, diving baptisms with Subacuáticas Real Sociedad, sailing trips with Navegavela, fishing trips with Oribay Tours, tickets to visit the eco-active museum boat Mater, or the Aquairum itself and gifts from the Real Sociedad Fundazioa.
