Donostia-San Sebastian's Semana Grande has arrived, and as is tradition, the city's Aquarium is joining in the celebration with the spectacular AIFF23 "Aquarium Maritime Film Festival". The event, which will take place from the 14th to the 19th of August, at 12:00, in the Aquarium auditorium, promises to be a unique and exciting cinematic experience for all lovers of cinema and the marine world.
This year, AIFF23 will kick off with the exciting International Underwater Film Series on the first day of the festival. The Donostia-San Sebastián Aquarium has enthusiastically shared the new features of this year's edition. Due to last year's success, the Festival has been extended to six days, giving spectators more opportunities to immerse themselves in the fascinating maritime stories that cinema has to offer. In addition, it has been emphasised that this year's selection of films and documentaries has been specially chosen to captivate and entertain audiences.

Monday 14th August - INTERNATIONAL UNDERWATER FILM FESTIVAL "CIMASUB".
On the exciting opening day, the International Underwater Film Festival "CIMASUB" will present a selection of award-winning short films. These films, in Spanish and Basque, will transport us to the depths of the Cantabrian Sea, exploring the diversity of creatures that inhabit one of the richest seas in Europe in terms of biodiversity. Tuesday 15 August - ITSASOAK PIZTEN GAITU (WE ARE THE SEA)
Winner of the Silver Biznaga and the "Gusto del Sur" audience award for best feature film at the Malaga Festival, this film in Basque will take us on a journey into the maritime identity of the Getariarras and Basques. We will explore how this community has been shaped by the sea over the centuries and reflect on its continuity today. Duration: 80 minutes.
Wednesday 16 August - THE UNDERWATER HERITAGE. A MUSEUM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA
From the International Archaeological Film Festival of Bidasoa (FICAB) comes this Italian documentary, subtitled in Spanish, which reveals the treasures of Italy's underwater heritage. We will explore the wonders of the submerged city of Baia, the wreck of Albenga and other incredible archaeological finds under the sea. Duration: 59 minutes.
Thursday, August 17 - "THE FORGETTENESS OF THE SEA" DOCUMENTARY
A tribute to the father of oceanography, Odón de Buen, starring Carmelo Gómez and directed by Mirella R. Abrisqueta. This feature-length documentary in Spanish will immerse us in the life and contributions of Odón de Buen, a pioneer of ecology and marine sciences in Spain. Running time: 70 minutes.
Friday 18 August - DAY OF THE SURFER ARITZ ARANBURU
Aritz Aranburu will be our guide on this journey into the world of surfing. Through projections in Spanish, we will discover the philosophy and lifestyle that surrounds this exciting water sport. Duration: 50 minutes.
