CIMASUB 2024: The underwater film festival that invites a commitment to the oceans
The Donostia-San Sebastian International Underwater Film Festival (CIMASUB) celebrates its 48th edition with a programme packed with activities that will transport spectators to the depths of the ocean. This year, the festival will include an exclusive selection of film screenings, the popular Txikiziklo Submarino for schoolchildren and several photographic exhibitions celebrating marine life and landscapes.
CIMASUB 2024's motto: ’Every image, a commitment. Every look, an opportunity’.
This year's slogan symbolises the dedication of photographers and filmmakers who capture the essence of the oceans, making a commitment to their preservation. For these creators, each image is an act of responsibility that shows us the beauty and vulnerability of marine ecosystems, while for the public, each glance is an opportunity to become aware and act in favour of the environment.
In addition, CIMASUB highlights the collaboration with public institutions, companies and citizens who, together, amplify this conservation message. Together, through art and film, they seek to inspire a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting ocean life.
Open and free screenings at the Teatro Principal
The CIMASUB screenings will be held at the Teatro Principal on 21, 22 and 23 November at 19:00, with free admission. Tickets can be collected at the box office on each screening day from 11:30 to 13:30 and from 17:00 to 19:00. Over three days, various aspects of the marine world will be explored through short films and documentaries. The first session, on Thursday 21 November, will focus on marine biodiversity and the relationships between species and their environment. The second, on Friday 22nd, will deal with conservation and sustainability, addressing issues such as climate change and pollution. Finally, on Saturday 23rd, the last session will highlight the human and cultural stories linked to the sea and will conclude with the awards ceremony for the best productions of the festival.
