After the great success of the CIMASUB in San Sebastian last November, the International Underwater Film Festival begins its exciting 24/25 Tour, which will visit more than 27 locations. The first stop on this tour will be Eibar, where the magic of the ocean will take over from 11 to 14 December with an agenda packed with activities that promise to captivate young and old alike. The 23rd CIMASUB in Eibar will kick off with a programme that includes underwater film screenings, educational activities for children and a photographic exhibition celebrating the beauty of the oceans. Under the slogan ‘Every image, a commitment. Every look, an opportunity’, the festival aims not only to dazzle attendees, but also to inspire deep reflection on the need to protect our seas and their marine life.
A festival for all
The CIMASUB film screenings will take place on the 11th, 12th and 13th of December at the Coliseum Theatre at 19:00 hours. Admission will be free, a gift for all those who wish to enjoy the incredible stories told through underwater documentaries and short films. These sessions will cover topics as diverse as marine biodiversity, the challenges of sustainability and the cultural relationships that link human communities with the ocean. For the little ones, the festival offers its already popular Txikiziklo Submarino, an educational and playful space that will come in two formats: on 11 December at 10:00 a.m., aimed at 5th and 6th year primary schoolchildren, and a family session on 14 December at 12:00 p.m., also in the Coliseum Theatre. This educational cycle combines cinema and didactic talks to teach youngsters the importance of preserving marine biodiversity and foster their love of the ocean.
Beauty in images
For those who wish to dive even deeper into the depths, the festival's photography exhibition will be on display from 30 November to 15 December at Arrate Kultur Elkartea. The exhibition brings together snapshots of seascapes and unique species, offering a glimpse into the most fascinating and vulnerable corners of the oceans.
A commitment to the planet
This year's motto, ‘Every image, a commitment. Every look, an opportunity’, encapsulates the spirit of CIMASUB, highlighting the work of photographers and filmmakers who, with every frame, take on the responsibility of showing the world the fragility and beauty of the ocean. At the same time, it invites the public to become aware and join in the protection of this invaluable ecosystem.
The CIMASUB in Eibar is just the beginning of a tour that promises to leave its mark in each of the more than 27 locations it will visit. This December, we invite you to immerse yourself in a unique experience, full of inspiration, knowledge and admiration for marine life. Don't miss it!
