CIMASUB in IRUN recovers the main hall of the AMAIA KZ
The 38th edition of the International Underwater Film Season of IRUN has arrived. Many surprises and very positive news behind this new edition, as always with free admission. After many years betting on our event, the Department of Culture of the City Council of Irun takes the big leap and places us in a privileged room, the main hall of the AMAIA KZ. Finally, CIMASUB in the best location and with an extraordinary quality of image and sound to be able to enjoy it in its maximum resolution. In addition, thanks to our colleagues from Bizinema, we will be able to enjoy an "underwater" exhibition in the hall of the Cultural Centre, with film posters and seafaring material, together with historical underwater material on loan from Subacuáticas Real Sociedad. In addition to our screenings on the 12th, 13th and 14th, on Saturday 15th we will be able to enjoy a children's day with the screening of "Finding Nemo" accompanied by games, raffles and short films for the little ones.
"When love for the sea can do it all" is the slogan that introduces the 38th edition of the Irun International Underwater Film Series. Throughout the week of 12th January, different events will be held, always with free admission until full capacity is reached. On the 12th, 13th and 14th at 19h the best short films and documentaries presented in competition in this edition will be screened, and on the 15th at 17:00 Bizinema will screen the film "Finding Nemo" in the AMAIA KZ. On 12th January, the "Txikiciclo for schools" will be held at 10am in the AMAIA KZ.
Everything is ready to enjoy another great edition of CIMASUB. A competition that has earned its prestige for its inherent capacity to bring together passion, will, talent and an infinite love for the Sea. The intensity of the short films generates a great impact on the spectator, both for their images and for the message they transmit. Images that are difficult to film, with often unknown species, that only on exclusive occasions, such as CIMASUB, can be enjoyed on the big screen, and that only the best videographers are capable of showing, thanks to the large number of hours they spend underwater. Situations that are difficult to assimilate nowadays, due to their cruelty and the attitude that human beings show when they mistreat the sea as they do. Thanks to the attraction of presenting the work of the professionals of the underwater camera in such an acclaimed event as the San Sebastian International Underwater Film Series, we will be able to see premieres on the screen for the first time.
The screenings, at the AMAIA KZ
The screenings on 12, 13 and 14 January include a total of 27 short films and 3 documentaries. We will take a trip back in time to discover the difference between the state of our collections today and 50 years ago. We will get to know the wildest Bay of Biscay and the refuge of the manta rays in the Canary Islands. We will also enjoy the most spectacular seabed in the Mediterranean, and we will dive in Indonesian waters.
On the one hand, increasingly, the denunciation of the crude reality of human clumsiness, which hurts and damages entire ecosystems, expels or exterminates biodiversity, makes it very difficult or impossible, together with the more than evident unsustainable overexploitation of fishing resources, blinded by bread for today, and hunger for tomorrow, threaten the future of generations to come. And on the other, the optimistic and hopeful vision of light and colour, the incredible universe that is still possible to find in some places of the planet, still healthy for the development of wildlife. Often so small and tiny that it remains hidden to most eyes, and at other times, majestic and incredibly beautiful, flying over the infinite blue, enamouring and captivating everyone who gets to contemplate its delicate beauty.
This duality, nothing less, is what shows us the immense talent that comes together at CIMASUB. An underwater current that beats in the hearts of Blue enthusiasts, from all the seas of the water planet, from the Pacific to the Bay of Biscay, from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, and from the North to the Baltic.
On the 12th and 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Amaia KZ. Recommended for boys and girls between 10 and 12 years old, 5th and 6th years of Primary Education.
An important pillar of this event is the SUBMARINE TXIKICICLO for boys and girls, to whom we will leave a difficult legacy, and who, without a doubt, are the last hope, and will be the driving force behind the necessary change in sensitivity. They will be able to discover this fascinating and marvellous underwater world.
Previously, educational material has been provided to the participating schools so that they can do some preliminary work in their classes before attending the event. A very specific proposal has been given to teachers with the activities to be carried out and methodological guidelines, supported by audiovisual material. This proposal can be developed in the classroom.
The aim is to make them aware of the environmental situation and to develop attitudes of healthy and responsible consumption, and of respect and care for the environment, in order to participate responsibly in its management. To work on personal responsibility and decision-making about the impact on the planet in our daily lives. Make personal and collective decisions based on scientific knowledge.
