Underwater cinema on board the Mater this July with CIMASUB!
This July, the Donostia-San Sebastián International Underwater Film Festival (CIMASUB) is once again going to sea, and in a very special way! We present four sessions of open-air underwater cinema on board the eco-active museum ship Mater, within the framework of the Zero Zabor Uretan 2025 campaign.
These screenings, free of charge and for all audiences, will take place on the deck of the Mater, transformed into a floating cinema under the stars. The programme brings together spectacular short films about the underwater world that invite us to reflect, get excited and commit ourselves to the health of our oceans.
Dates and locations:
Bilbao - Friday 4 July
Ondarroa - Saturday 12 July
Getaria - Friday 18 July
Pasaia - Wednesday 23 July
All screenings will begin at dusk, in a unique setting that combines nature, culture and environmental awareness.
A campaign for a healthy sea
These activities are part of the Zero Zabor Uretan campaign, promoted by the Blessed Mother in collaboration with local entities, organisations and volunteers. With the slogan ‘The best waste, the waste that is not generated’, the campaign seeks to raise awareness of the problem of marine litter through participative actions in different ports along the Basque coast.
Throughout the month of July, the Mater will tour eight municipalities with educational activities, waste collection, creative workshops, guided tours and, of course, cinema. CIMASUB participates with these screenings as a visual awareness-raising tool that unites art, science and activism for the oceans.
