The Donostia - San Sebastian International Underwater Film Festival (CIMASUB) celebrates its 48th edition and we are excited to present the full programme! This year, the festival offers a unique selection of film screenings, the always awaited UnderwaterTxikiziklo, and several photographic exhibitions. Get ready to dive into the depths of the ocean!
The screenings will take place at the Teatro Principal in San Sebastian on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of November. These screenings, which are free of charge, will take place at 19:00 on the aforementioned dates. For three consecutive days, tickets will be available at the box office on each screening day from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Over the course of the three days, a range of topics related to the marine world will be discussed, from biodiversity and conservation to human connections with the oceans.
Thursday 21 November - 1st Session (110 min): On this first day, short films and documentaries will lead us to learn about life on the reefs, the unexplored depths and the complex relationships between humans and the sea. A special focus will be put on marine biodiversity and the interactions between marine species and their environment.
Friday 22 November - 2nd Session (110 min): The second day will focus on marine conservation and sustainability issues, with works addressing the challenges facing the oceans due to climate change, overexploitation of resources and pollution. These films invite reflection on the future of our seas and the importance of taking action to protect them.
Saturday 23 November - 3rd Session and Awards Ceremony (110 min): The closing of the festival will be marked by works highlighting cultural interaction and human stories linked to the sea, as well as celebrating the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems. In addition, the awards ceremony will take place, in which the best works of this edition will be recognised.
