This year we are honoured to have Jorge J. Candán, a great friend of our International Underwater Film Series and a world-renowned professional in the underwater image sector, who will visit us during the CIMASUB week to present him with the Francisco Pizarro special award as a tribute to a career of international success.
We will enjoy in his company the screening of two of his latest works, "Distopía", winner of the Spanish vídeosub championship 2019, and "The Return" winner of the videosub world championship 2019.
Jorge, producer and director of documentaries and photographer, has spent more than 25 years dedicated exclusively to the production of photographic works, popular science documentaries and artistic projects, both underwater and terrestrial in nature.
In his career he has won more than fifty awards in festivals and competitions, national and international, being "WORLD CHAMPION OF UNDERWATER VIDEO" in 2019 and 2010.
Born in Vigo (Spain), his productions aim to disseminate the natural value of ecosystems and send a message of conservation. His work, produced both in Spain and other parts of the world, has been broadcast by national and international television channels and in publications such as: TV2, CCTV10-China, National Geographic, Mundo Científico, etc. He has participated in expeditions to different seas around the world with the Oceana Foundation and has collaborated with research centres, universities, public bodies in dissemination and research projects, as well as in underwater filming for cinema and television series.

As the father of the International Underwater Film Series, we offer this special award named after him, which is presented every year as a tribute to a relevant person in the underwater image sector.
