LEZO hosts its first International Underwater Film Series
We present the programme of the 1st edition of the International Underwater Film Series of LEZO, the CIMASUB 2019, which will be held, with FREE ADMISSION, on Saturdays 19th and 26th October in the GEZALA Auditorium (from 19:00 to 20:30h.).
In view of the serious problem we have with marine pollution and seeing that year after year there are more and more works that show us a denunciation of the large amount of rubbish we have in the seabed, this year we have added new awards for the best works with ecological denunciation, both in photographs and in documentaries or short films. The result has been overwhelming, the filmmakers have a lot to tell and they have shown us that.
We would like to express our great satisfaction at the success of participation by professionals and amateurs of underwater images, as nearly 70 works have been submitted to the competition, including photographic collections, short films and documentaries of extraordinary quality. We continue to be a reference point for Underwater Cinema worldwide, as we continue to receive works from all corners of the world... Belgium, France, England, Italy, El Salvador, Argentina, Canada, Mexico and many more. The selected works will take us to paradises such as Maldives, Indonesia, Philippines, Mauritius, Mexico, Thailand, Australia, Egypt,... and of course, all our coasts... Canarias, Galicia, Tarragona, Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia, Cantabria.
With these new features, we are seeking, on the one hand, that thanks to the prize for ecologically denouncing work, the contents offered at CIMASUB will raise awareness and show the reality of the problem that our seas and oceans are suffering. On the other hand, thanks to the TXIKICICLO that will be held on the morning of the 18th and 25th October (for children and teenagers respectively), we want to reach the new generations with more strength so that they are able to understand as soon as possible that it is in our hands to save the sea and consequently our planet.
The aim of TXIKICICLO is to educate our children to respect the sea and the environment. To make them think about the damage that rubbish and plastics are doing to the sea and the species that live in it. We seek to make them aware that it is in everyone's hands to help save our seas and oceans by recycling and making good use of disposable materials. Primary and secondary school students will enjoy the screening of short films and a talk with professionals from the underwater world, Maite Erauskin and Elsa Cuende from the GAEA Elkartea Association.
