Luxury judges collaborating in the CIMASUB 2021 evaluations
The organisers of CIMASUB - International Underwater Film Cycle of Donostia - San Sebastian would like to express our great satisfaction with the quantity and quality of the works submitted to the competition. We would also like to thank the judges, who once again this year have collaborated with our competition and have done a fantastic job, which every year becomes a more meticulous and laborious task. Esteban Toré, Underwater photographer with more than 1000 hours of diving experience. Commissioner-juror of underwater photography FEDAS. Jury in the XIV Open Fotosub El Hierro 2010 and the III Fotosub Maskebuzos in 2010. Contributor to the magazines Buceadores and Granada submarina. Two-time Spanish Underwater Photography Champion in 2009 and 2012. Runner-up in the Spanish Underwater Photography Championship 2011. Spanish Underwater Photography Team Champion 2012. Runner-up in the Spanish Underwater Photography Team Championship 2010, 2011 and 2013. Four times Andalusian Underwater Photography Champion. Sub-champion of Andalusia of Underwater Photography 2010. Three times Malaga Underwater Photography Champion. First classified in the I Photosub Nocturno MAFoSUB 2010. First classified in I maskebuzos Torrenueva 2011 underwater photography contest. Sixth classified and silver medal in the category of environment with model of the World Championship of Underwater Photography held in Cayo Largo (Cuba) in 2013. Champion of the International Master Fotosub International Santa Maria Island Azores in 2011. Winner of the Mayor's Price category and cover of the HP Eilat Shoot Out 2012 book. Winner in the Fish Of The Year and Best Singular Entry categories of the Epson Red Sea competition in 2011. Runner-up in the XIII edition of the Open del Hierro 2009. Third place in the VI Fotosub de Gran Canaria Costa de Mogán 2010. Among many other prizes won in online championships.
Carlos Villoch, Professional underwater photographer who travels the world in search of the ultimate image. His photographs and articles have been published in many countries and used for publicity purposes by major international companies such as ATT, WWF and BBC. His award-winning images have been used on over 100 covers and have been exhibited in many museums and aquariums, as well as winning prizes in the most prestigious photography competitions. He currently manages the Magic Sea photo library and Glowdive.com, where he designs and distributes new equipment for underwater photographers. Carlos continues to travel the world, whether on assignment for the most prestigious magazines, teaching photography seminars or searching for new subjects and destinations. He produces many new high quality images every year and is always looking for a different angle or a new technique to capture that precise moment of beauty beneath the ocean's surface.
Carlos Minguell: Professional underwater photographer who in recent years has focused more on teaching, organising events around photosub (where the El Hierro Open deserves special mention, of which he has been Technical Director since 1998) and documenting oceanographic campaigns for the Oceana Foundation. Between 1992 and 2009 he won more than 100 photography awards, including 11 Spanish Championships and 3 individual World Championships, as well as a few "Open" competitions, and 2 gold medals in the "50 JUDGES" of the CMAS (Switzerland), 3 medals and 2 honourable mentions in the AUSTRIAN SUPER CIRCUIT (Austria), "Best of Show" and 4 medals in the KODAK OCEANZ PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION (New Zealand), 4 second prizes in the FOTO NIKON awards and 4 "Highly Commended" in the GDT EUROPEAN NATURE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR (Germany).
José Luis González, Technical Engineer in the speciality of Mechanics from the Universidad Laboral de Gijón and naturalist underwater photographer, born in Oviedo 1952. He has been photographing the underwater world since 1980, and continental waters since 1996. But it is in Galicia, and specifically in the Vigo estuary, where he carries out his work. New behaviours for science, and images of species never before photographed in their environment in this part of the Atlantic. Owner of Marevision, a company specialising in underwater images, since 1991. Director of the Vigo Underwater Film Week and of the underwater magazine Inmersión. Photographic contributor to numerous national and international publications and magazines (Fotógrafos de la Naturaleza, Geo, National Geographic, Ocean-Realm, Inmersion...). He has been World and Spanish champion in underwater photography on numerous occasions.
Members of the organising team of the Underwater Activities Section of the Real Sociedad de Fútbol, Jesús Insausti, Verónica Mateos and Iker Zubillaga, and David Sánchez, among other qualified judges and collaborators, image professionals and experts in underwater video and photography.
