Next stop of the Cimasub Tour: Azpeitia and Hondarribia
In April, the International Underwater Film Series, CIMASUB, comes to Azpeitia and Hondarribia. Lovers of the underwater world will be able to enjoy the 4th edition in Azpeitia, thanks to the sponsorship of the Sustainability Department of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, which will take place on Wednesdays April 10, 17 and 24 at 19:00 hours in Soreasu Antzokia, while the 15th edition in Hondarribia, will be held on April 11, 12 and 13 at 19:00 hours in the Auditorium of the Itsas Etxea.
In the three film sessions, viewers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a fascinating underwater world through a careful selection of audiovisual works. These will take us on a journey through various marine destinations. From the seagrass beds of Florida to the depths of the ocean in Indonesia. Topics such as the importance of coral reef conservation, the threat of invasive species in the Mediterranean, the impact of stress on modern life and the relationship between local fishermen and whale sharks will be explored. Through captivating visual storytelling, viewers will witness the beauty and fragility of our marine ecosystems. We will be reminded of the importance of appreciating and protecting our precious natural heritage in the ocean, and how our actions can influence the conservation of marine life for future generations.
Accompanying the underwater cinema is a magnificent photographic exhibition, which will immerse visitors in the mysterious seabed and the complex relationship between humanity and nature. In Azpeitia it will be in San Agustin Kulturgunea, from April 11 to 21. In Hondarribia, the exhibition will be presented at the Arma plaza interpretation center, from March 25 to April 8, from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00 hours and on Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00 hours.
In addition, continuing with the ongoing effort to promote appreciation and respect for the marine world among the youngest, the Txikiziklo Submarino will be held, bringing together primary school students from local schools in an exciting educational tour. Organized by the Royal Society Foundation and its Underwater Activities section, it aims to promote values and respect for the environment and introduce children to the fascinating underwater world, instilling love and respect for the oceans.
Admission is free of charge. During these three days of screenings, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the underwater world through the lens of the filmmakers and experience the diversity of marine life in all its splendor.
