The 2nd edition of the ERRENTERIA International Underwater Film Series is here!
The 2nd edition of the ERRENTERIA International Underwater Film Series, CIMASUB 2020, has been presented. This event continues to be the best way to travel around the planet, visiting the most spectacular seabed and showing the global nature of the problem of marine pollution and climate change.
The International Underwater Film Series has been working since 1975 to raise awareness of the seabed, showing all its beauty from every corner of the planet. Unfortunately, however, the current interest in the seabed is not due to the wonders it hides, but rather to the disaster that mankind has caused. Edition after edition, marine pollution has been taking centre stage in the works that professionals and amateurs in the underwater image sector have presented in the Cycle. So much so, that the majority of the works now leave a space to talk about marine litter or even to make it the central theme. The best works with ecological denouncements continue to be rewarded, as those who spend most time underwater have a lot to tell, and this message must reach everyone in order to achieve a real, serious and definitive awareness. PROJECTIONS
On the 9th, 10th and 11th of November, from 19:00 to 20:30, the best and most awarded international underwater cinema will be screened with 27 short films and 4 documentaries at NIESSEN Kulturgunea.
The quality of the works presented to the underwater image competition grows every year, both visually and narratively. The format is changing, the number of short films is growing and the intensity of their presentation is increasing. Documentaries are becoming more and more fast-paced, moving away from the classic slower documentary and moving towards a more dynamic and entertaining narrative. All of this means that people are better reached and a greater number of audiences are attracted.
As always, all events and screenings are FREE ENTRANCE until full capacity is reached.
The Underwater Film Series continues to be an international benchmark. Works have been received from countries from several continents. Among which there are winners from France, Argentina, Italy, among others, and also from the Basque Country, Cantabria, Canary Islands, Madrid, Catalonia, among others. This year the Cycle wishes to pay special tribute to a professional of the underwater image with the greatest international impact, Rafael Herrero Massieu.
The organisation would like to thank the ERRENTERIA Town Council and the Royal Society Foundation, and invites anyone interested to take this fantastic underwater journey, of course, with all the health guarantees to safeguard public health.
