The TXIKICICLO started today. Primary school pupils from Arantzazuko Ama, Amasorrain Ikastola and Intxaurrondo Hegoa opened this new edition, organised by our Underwater section with the collaboration of Real Sociedad Fundazioa. It was a beautiful morning that allowed them to immerse themselves in the marine world. Over the next four days it will be the turn of students from Amara Berri (Ferrerías), Aitor Ikastola, Katalina de Erauso, María Reina, Igeldo, Ibai Ikastola, Altza Herri Ikastetxea, Jesuitinas and Amara Berri (Morlans).
An important pillar of our event is the UNDERWATER TXIKICICLE for children, to whom we will leave a difficult legacy, and who, without a doubt, are the last hope, and will be the driving force behind the necessary change in sensitivity. They will be able to discover this fascinating and wonderful underwater world.
Recommended for children between 10 and 12 years old, 5th and 6th years of Primary Education. From Monday 15 to Friday 19 November at the San Sebastian Aquarium. The UNDERWATER TXIKICICLE is the equivalent to new lovers of the blue, who will forge an indestructible bond with their blue planet and will be the new direct ambassadors of marine biodiversity, promoting a new awareness of the need to recover the sea's balance.
Preliminary work in schools
Previously, didactic material will be provided to the participating educational centres so that they can do some previous work in their classes, before attending the event. We will provide teachers with a very specific proposal with the activities to be carried out and methodological guidelines, supported by audiovisual material. This proposal can be developed in one or two working sessions in the classroom.
The aim is to make them aware of the environmental situation and to develop attitudes of healthy and responsible consumption, and of respect and care for the environment, in order to participate responsibly in its management. To work on personal responsibility and decision-making about the impact on the planet in our daily lives. Make personal and collective decisions based on scientific knowledge.
Royal Society Foundation
This UNDERWATER TXIKICICLE is an initiative that the Real Sociedad Fundazioa wants to promote as it is part of the values education it works for, in this case promoting respect for the sea and the environment. The aim of this event is to raise awareness that it is in everyone's hands to help alleviate climate change and save our seas and oceans. To do so, we will explain the problem of the current situation and what the solutions are.
You can't love what you don't know, that's why we dedicate all our efforts to reach the youngest members of the public. Every year the number of people who attend the TXIKICICLO SUBMARINO grows, exceeding a thousand both in Donostia and in other towns where we carry it out. Our aim is to increase these figures by visiting more schools and other towns that open their doors to us.
