The youngest children in Lasarte-Oria give their all in the Txikiziklo
Today, Monday 7th January, the "Txikiciclo for schools" was held at 10am in the Manuel Lekuona cultural centre. 190 boys and girls aged between 10 and 12, 5th and 6th years of Primary Education, from the Sasoeta-Garaikoetxea and Landaberri schools took part.
The aim of the TXIKICICLO SUBMARINO is to educate them in respect for the sea and the environment. To this end, a session lasting approximately one hour will be offered, with the screening of short films related to the current situation of the sea and a talk focused on the problem of climate change given by the Mater Museo team.
Prior to this, educational material was provided to the participating schools so that they could work on the subject in their classes before attending the event. A very specific proposal was given to the teachers with the activities to be carried out and methodological guidelines.
All thanks to the Department of Culture of Lasarte-Oria Town Council and the Danok-Kide Association, with the organisation of the Royal Society Foundation and the Underwater Section of the Royal Society, with the participation as speakers of Izaskun Suberbiola, director of the Mater Museoa Ecoactive Ship.
Once the event was over, those attending were invited to come with their parents to the afternoon sessions of the Underwater Film Series, which starts today at 19h. and will continue next Monday with the screening of the best short films and documentaries from around the world. An underwater treasure with free admission for everyone at the Manuel Lekuona cinema in Lasarte-Oria.
