We received a visit from the award winners to receive the prized Donostia banner
In this edition, after the restrictions that last year prevented the winners from visiting our city to collect their awards, we will be welcoming the most prestigious underwater photographers and videographers to San Sebastian.
This year many of them will be at the Teatro Principal on Saturday 20th at 19h. to receive the highly valued trophy in the form of the "Barandilla de la Concha".
In addition, these days we have the special visit of Bernard Delemotte, marine operations engineer, diving director and underwater filmmaker and cameraman, who was Commander Jacques Cousteau's companion for twenty years on board the Calypso. We had the opportunity to meet him when he attended the inauguration in 2001 of the square above the Aquarium in San Sebastian, which since then has borne the name of the famous captain of the Calypso. This tribute to Commander Cousteau was promoted by the City Council and the San Sebastian International Underwater Film Series, which was celebrating its 25th edition.
Bernard will present the FRANCISCO PIZARRO AWARD to Jorge J. Candán. In the last edition, due to the health emergency situation, it was not possible for Jorge to attend the award ceremony in our city. But this year it will finally be possible. From the Underwater Activities Section of the Real Sociedad de Fútbol, as organisers of the International Underwater Film Series of Donostia - San Sebastián, in this 45th edition we would like to pay a well-deserved tribute to Jorge J.
