Carlos Minguell: Professional underwater photographer who in recent years has focused more on teaching, on the organisation of events related to photosub (where the El Hierro Open deserves special mention, of which he has been Technical Director since 1998) and on documenting oceanographic campaigns for the Oceana Foundation. Between 1992 and 2009 he won more than 100 photography awards, including 11 Spanish Championships and 3 individual World Championships, as well as a few "Open" competitions, and 2 gold medals in the "50 JUDGES" of the CMAS (Switzerland), 3 medals and 2 honourable mentions in the AUSTRIAN SUPER CIRCUIT (Austria), "Best of Show" and 4 medals in the KODAK OCEANZ PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION (New Zealand), 4 second prizes in the FOTO NIKON awards and 4 "Highly Commended" in the GDT EUROPEAN NATURE PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR (Germany). José Luis González, Technical Engineer in the speciality of Mechanics by the Universidad Laboral de Gijón and naturalist underwater photographer, born in Oviedo 1952. He has been photographing the underwater world since 1980, and continental waters since 1996. But it is in Galicia, and specifically in the Vigo estuary, where he carries out his work. New behaviours for science, and images of species never before photographed in their environment in this part of the Atlantic. Owner of Marevision, a company specialising in underwater images, since 1991. Director of the Vigo Underwater Film Week and of the underwater magazine Inmersión. Photographic contributor to numerous national and international publications and magazines (Fotógrafos de la Naturaleza, Geo, National Geographic, Ocean-Realm, Inmersion...). Carlos Villoch, Professional underwater photographer who travels the world in search of the ultimate image. His photographs and articles have been published in many countries and used for publicity purposes by major international companies such as ATT, WWF and BBC. His award-winning images have been used on over 100 covers and have been exhibited in many museums and aquariums, as well as winning prizes in the most prestigious photography competitions. He currently manages the Magic Sea photo library and Glowdive.com, where he designs and distributes new equipment for underwater photographers. Carlos continues to travel the world, whether on assignment for the most prestigious magazines, teaching photography seminars or searching for new subjects and destinations. He produces many new high quality images every year and is always looking for a different angle or a new technique to capture that precise moment of beauty beneath the ocean's surface. We are anxiously awaiting the evaluations of the more than 110 works submitted, because this year we are going to enjoy the extraordinary quality of these works and we are going to travel around the world touring the most spectacular seabed of the planet.
During the month of October we will publish the list of winners in the different categories and the official programme with information and schedules of all the screenings.
We invite you all to come on this fantastic underwater journey with us on the 19th, 20th and 21st of November at the Teatro Principal in Donostia-San Sebastián.
