The Cimasub 2024 Jury is getting stronger. New additions and special thanks for their commitment.
At the 48th edition of the San Sebastian International Underwater Film Festival, Cimasub 2024, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the jury, whose hard work and dedication are fundamental to the success of this event. Their experience and passion for the underwater world ensure that each year the best of underwater film and photography is recognised, celebrating the beauty and importance of our oceans.
This year, the jury is made up of a group of leading professionals, whose careers are widely recognised in the field of underwater filmmaking and marine conservation. We are honoured to have, once again this year, the collaboration of: Carlos Minguell, Francisco José Sánchez, Jose Antonio García, Esteban Toré, Roberto Suárez García, Jesús J. Insausti, Verónica Mateos Franco and Iker Zubillaga.
In addition to all of them, we are honoured to welcome two new members to our prestigious jury: Dr. Alex del Olmo and Enrique Talledo.
Dr. Alex del Olmo An expert in scuba diving and cinematography, with a passion for marine life that began at the age of 18, when he became a certified scuba diver. Although he was a film teacher in Barcelona, he decided to follow his dream of travelling and filming in the Indo-Pacific, where he became a cruise director on the Seven Seas. His work has won awards at prestigious underwater film festivals and has been broadcast on international television networks. He is currently the head of Naucrates, a team of underwater video and film experts.
Enrique Talledo Outstanding communicator of the seas and oceans, committed to raising awareness of the importance of protecting these ecosystems. With more than 30 years of experience, he has documented marine life in more than 30 countries, accumulating 500,000 photographs and hundreds of hours of filming in HD and 4K. He currently directs ‘Secrets of the Ocean’, an environmental education project for young people. He has participated in 29 scientific oceanographic expeditions and has collaborated with organisations such as the Oceana Foundation. His work has been published in media such as National Geographic and The Guardian. With more than 100 awards in underwater imaging, he is the author of several books and has been recognised with the Science in Action 2020 Award, the Arona SOS Atlantic 2022 Award and has been awarded in the CIMASUB on several occasions. In addition, Enrique has been a jury member in prestigious underwater photography and film competitions.
We would like to thank the entire Cimasub 2024 jury for their commitment and dedication. Their work is not only crucial in selecting the best underwater film and photography, but also in inspiring future generations to value and protect our oceans.
