The official program for CIMASUB 2025 is here! Discover everything that awaits you at the 49th edition.
The Donostia-San Sebastián International Underwater Film Festival (CIMASUB) presents the complete program for its 49th edition, to be held this November. An unmissable event for lovers of the sea, nature, and underwater imagery.
This year, the festival once again immerses us in an exciting journey through the ocean depths with international underwater film screenings, the charming Txikiziklo Submarino, and photographic exhibitions that capture the beauty and fragility of the marine world.
The slogan for Cimasub 2025, “The truth before your eyes” reflects the festival's purpose: to show the underwater world as it is, highlighting the work of photographers and videographers who capture its beauty and real threats. Through film, photography, and education, and always with free admission, Cimasub seeks to inform, raise awareness, and excite the public, revealing both the richness of marine ecosystems and the damage caused by pollution, overfishing, and environmental degradation. The festival invites you to discover, reflect, and make a genuine commitment to protecting the oceans.
In addition to the screenings, Cimasub organizes various activities open to the whole community, with the aim of bringing this reality closer to all audiences:
Three different underwater film sessions, which will take place at the Teatro Principal in San Sebastián on November 13, 14, and 15 at 7:00 p.m. The best international short films and documentaries will be screened (free tickets available only at the box office on the same days from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.).
Three photography exhibitions in iconic locations around the city: the Garbera Shopping Center, the San Sebastián Aquarium, and the Kirol Etxea at the Anoeta Stadium, open throughout November.
Five days of Txikiziklo Submarino at the San Sebastián Aquarium, with activities specially designed for schools in San Sebastián to encourage curiosity, respect, and care for the marine environment in young children.
Through all these proposals, Cimasub 2025 invites society to look at, understand, and appreciate the reality that lies beneath the waves. Because only by seeing the truth before our eyes can we learn to care for and protect the oceans that give life to our planet.
