The International Underwater Film Series, known as CIMASUB, is set to captivate sea and nature lovers in its exciting debut at ANDOAIN, followed by its second edition at PASAIA. This event offers a unique opportunity, with free admission, to immerse yourself in the most outstanding works of photographers and videographers from around the world, whose passions revolve around the ocean. Through powerful images, the festival seeks to highlight both the stunning beauty of the oceans and the challenges they face due to human activity, focusing on the pressure we put on this crucial ecosystem.
At a time of great relevance for the future of humanity, where time is against us, the slogan "Now or Never" resonates as a call for immediate action. This cry urges us to transform our way of thinking and our habits. CIMASUB stands as a powerful means of communicating the current reality of the oceans and the problems that afflict them, while delighting us with the wonders hidden in the deep sea, many of which are still waiting to be discovered.
The organisation of this event is possible thanks to the collaboration between Subacuáticas Real Sociedad and the town councils of ANDOAIN and PASAIA, backed by the sponsorship of the Department of the Environment of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. The main objective is to explore the underwater world through audiovisual works and to raise awareness of the importance of respecting and caring for our oceans and seas. CIMASUB acts as a bridge between the ambassadors of the sea: the underwater photographers and videographers, and the public that annually attends the cinemas where this prestigious international event takes place.

During the underwater film screenings, a striking duality is presented. On the one hand, a forceful denunciation of human recklessness that wreaks havoc on entire ecosystems, annihilates biodiversity and, together with the unsustainable exploitation of fishery resources, endangers the legacy of future generations. On the other hand, an optimistic perspective emerges of an astonishing universe that endures in certain corners of the planet, where nature continues to flourish. At times, this wonder presents itself in tiny forms hidden to most, while at others, it unfolds with majesty and a dazzling beauty that captivates and enamours all spectators.
Inside the Underwater Txikiziklo, children will have the opportunity to become familiar with the ocean and discover the fascinating underwater world, in order to cultivate a love and respect for this environment. The Txikiziklo Submarino, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, has been expanding its reach to more educational centres with each edition, involving more than 2,000 students in the last edition. Education and outreach stand as powerful tools for the preservation of the oceans and the survival of our species. The programme seeks to raise awareness about the natural environment and encourage attitudes of sustainable consumption, respect and care for the environment, preparing new generations to take a responsible role in its management. The aim is to cultivate individual responsibility and informed decision-making based on scientific knowledge regarding the impact on our planet in everyday life.
The Photo Exhibition will offer a window into the underwater world through 24 stunning enlargements of photographs. These images will transport viewers through the world's diverse underwater ecosystems, highlighting unique species and rarely captured situations. The exhibition fuses natural beauty with the stark reality of the human relationship with the environment. Among the more than 300 photographs submitted in this edition, the 24 most outstanding will be exhibited, including those of the winner and finalists, such as Luc Rooman (Belgium), Martin Broen (United States), Tom Shesinger (Israel), Plamena Mileva (Bulgaria), Aldo Gustavo Galante (Argentina) and Iñaki Alcalde (Gipuzkoa).
