The last session of this exciting event promises to take the audience into the depths of the underwater world with a selection of the best works presented in competition. These films, directed by talented filmmakers from different parts of the world, will reveal the amazing marine life that inhabits the oceans, as well as the environmental challenges they face.
With "Indonesia Blue" by Fabian Guggenberger (Austria), winner of the Golden Banister Award for Best Short Film, we will explore the wonders of the seas and immerse ourselves in the mysterious waters of Indonesia, where we will meet the world's rarest and most amazing creatures, combining stunning images of marine life with an authentic and entertaining narrative, resulting in a beautifully immersive experience. We will celebrate the talent of underwater photography, with a musical slideshow highlighting the competition's top-rated entries in the photography category. It showcases stunning images of the diversity and beauty of the underwater world and rewards the photographers who have managed to capture them.
With the musical short film "Strangest Things" by Dustin Adamson (USA), Golden Rail in its category, we will be introduced to an underwater world that seems to be taken from a parallel dimension. With unique sound effects, it shows some of the most surprising and curious marine creatures that inhabit the oceans, and plays with perception and reality, inviting us to explore the mysteries of the ocean and appreciate the diversity of creatures that inhabit it. Felipe Ravina (Tenerife) will present his short film "Las dos caras de Tenerife" (The two faces of Tenerife), awarded Best ecological awareness work. In it we will see the threats facing this natural paradise, in a powerful wake-up call urging to protect and conserve the island's natural treasures.
The main course of the session is the 35-minute documentary, "The Four Kings, the Halmahera Sea Sanctuary" by Karlos Simón (Madrid), which will transport us to a unique and remote marine world in Indonesia. With breathtaking landscapes, amazing coral reefs and a great diversity of marine life, this documentary celebrates the beauty and resilience of our seas. It also highlights the importance of sustainable development in the region, where growth has been combined in an exemplary way with sustainable tourism.
The third session of the International Underwater Film Festival is an invitation to explore, appreciate and preserve the magical underwater world. Audiences will immerse themselves in a universe teeming with marine life and learn about the environmental challenges it faces.
