Once again this year and on the occasion of the Semana Grande and the festivities of Donostia / San Sebastian, the International Underwater Film Series collaborates with this great film festival on the sea offered by the Aquarium of San Sebastian. On Wednesday 17th at 12h. we will screen a stunning collection of short films presented in our last edition, along with the great documentary "Cantábrico Salvaje" by Enrique Talledo.
A totally free event where people of all ages will be able to get to know and live a closer experience to the sea and its life. From the 15th of August until the 19th of August, at 12:00h, the Aquarium puts the sea in your hands in its Auditorium.
MONDAY 15th - Chronicles of surfer Borja Agote
Borja Agote will be the protagonist and guide of this adventure in which we will discover and learn about the world of surfing. We will travel through his projections and he will accompany us during the event to answer our questions.
TUESDAY 16th - Itsasoiko Itsasotik Sasoikoa / Ondarroa 12 milia
The Basque Country is a people intimately linked to the Cantabrian Sea and fishing. The sea has always been part of our history, our culture and our identity. However, those who have known other times on our coast say that life around the fishing ports used to be very different.
WEDNESDAY 17th - CIMASUB with Cantábrico Salvaje (Wild Cantabrian)
Among other short films from the latest edition of the International Underwater Film Series in San Sebastian, we will be screening the documentary Cantábrico Salvaje (Wild Cantabrian). The Cantabrian Sea is one of the most biodiverse seas in Europe. The documentary, narrated in first person by its author, Enrique Talledo, passionately shows the fascinating experiences lived in it. The real protagonists, creatures that have adapted to the harsh conditions of this rough sea, from huge sperm whales to vulnerable seahorses.
THURSDAY 18 - The Indies Fleet
On 27 November 2015, off the coast of Cartagena de Indias, Colombians discovered the Spanish galleon San José, which sank when attacked in 1708 by the British fleet. An event that serves as a starting point for Antonio Pérez Molero to recreate the story of La Flota de Indias with which Spain began global trade more than 500 years ago.
FRIDAY 19th - Cavities of the Aquarium Donostiarra
We will enter the laboratory, the quarantine, the Aquarium's fish kitchen and the daily life of our biologists through short videos with their protagonists.
From the Donostiarra Aquarium itself "we would like to give special thanks to Borja Agote, the International Archaeological Film Festival of Bidasoa (FICAB), the International Underwater Film Series of Donostia San Sebastian (CIMASUB), 12 milia and Bizi Lur, for being this year's protagonists".
