HONDARRIBIA will be immersed in CIMASUB this weekend, on the 10th, 11th and 12th.
The 13th edition of the CIMASUB in HONDARRIBIA was presented at a press conference, with the presence of the Councillor for Culture, Juan Luis Silanes. The director of Cimasub, David Sánchez Carretero, also attended the event held at Itsas Etxea. The aim of the proposal is to raise awareness of what is happening at the bottom of the sea. We invite you to take this fantastic underwater journey with us. As always, all events and screenings are programmed with FREE and NUMBERED ENTRANCE until full capacity is reached. Free tickets can be obtained at tickets.kutxabank.es or at Arma Plaza Fundazioa.
"When love for the sea can do it all" is the slogan that introduces the 13th edition of the Hondarribia International Underwater Film Series. Throughout the event, different events will be held, always with free admission until full capacity is reached. On the 10th, 11th and 12th at 19h. the best short films and documentaries, presented in competition in this edition, will be screened in the Itsas Etxea Auditorium. On the 7th of January, the "Txikiciclo for schools" will be held at 10am in the Itsas Etxea Auditorium. And the photographic exhibition will be open from the 9th until the 31st of March at the Arma Plaza Interpretation Centre.
The screenings, in the ITSAS ETXEA Auditorium
The screenings on 10, 11 and 12 March include a total of 27 short films and 3 documentaries. We will take a trip back in time to discover the difference between the state of our sea beds today and 50 years ago. We will get to know the wildest Bay of Biscay and the refuge of the manta rays in the Canary Islands. We will also enjoy the most spectacular seabed in the Mediterranean, and we will dive in Indonesian waters.
On the one hand, increasingly, the denunciation of the crude reality of human clumsiness, which hurts and damages entire ecosystems, expels or exterminates biodiversity, makes it very difficult or impossible, together with the more than evident unsustainable overexploitation of fishing resources, blinded by bread for today, and hunger for tomorrow, threaten the future of generations to come. And on the other, the optimistic and hopeful vision of light and colour, the incredible universe that is still possible to find in some places of the planet, still healthy for the development of wildlife. Often so small and tiny that it remains hidden to most eyes, and at other times, majestic and incredibly beautiful, flying over the infinite blue, enamouring and captivating everyone who gets to contemplate its delicate beauty.
This duality, nothing less, is what shows us the immense talent that comes together at CIMASUB. An underwater current that beats in the hearts of Blue enthusiasts, from all the seas of the water planet, from the Pacific to the Bay of Biscay, from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, and from the North to the Baltic.
The exhibition of the best photographs submitted to this year's CIMASUB will be open at the Arma Plaza Interpretation Centre from the 9th to the 31st of March, from 10:00 to 18:00, except on Sunday until 14:00.
24 enlarged photographs that will transport us to all the underwater depths of the world. They will show us the most curious and striking species, in situations rarely seen. The beauty of nature and the cruelty of man's attitude towards it, together in the same exhibition.
The Txikiciclo for schools
On 11 March at 10:00 a.m. in the Itsas Etxea Auditorium. Recommended for boys and girls between 10 and 12 years old, 5th and 6th years of Primary Education. Sponsored by the Real Sociedad Foundation and with the participation of GAEA Elkartea.
An important pillar of this event is the SUBMARINE TXIKICICLO for boys and girls, to whom we will leave a difficult legacy, and who, without a doubt, are the last hope, and will be the driving force behind the necessary change in sensitivity. They will be able to discover this fascinating and wonderful underwater world.
Previously, educational material has been provided to the participating schools so that they can do some preliminary work in their classes before attending the event. A very specific proposal has been given to the teachers with the activities to be carried out and methodological guidelines, supported by audiovisual material. This proposal can be developed in the classroom.
The aim is to make them aware of the environmental situation and to develop attitudes of healthy and responsible consumption, and of respect and care for the environment, in order to participate responsibly in its management. To work on personal responsibility and decision-making about the impact on the planet in our daily lives. Make personal and collective decisions based on scientific knowledge.
